There are two forms of A.D.H.D. which are either of the body or of the brain https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/adhdadd. In this blog, I will be discussing “Adult A.D.H.D” of the brain, also known as A.D.D, and tools to help cope with distraction. A.D.H.D is something millions of people struggle with. Some of the common signs are fuzz/fog brain(neurotransmitters are less active in areas of the brain that control attention.), lots of love for shiny things(easily distracted), tardiness, and unorganized. https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/ss/slideshow-adhd-in-adults provides a few more symptoms.

Plenty of people have ADHD and are successful including Simone Biles with 30 Olimpic medals. Audra Mcdonald making history by winning 6 Tony awards, also living with ADHDhttps://addadult.com/add-education-center/famous-people-with-adhd/.Astronant Scott Kelly was the first man to spend a year in space, but never thought he could get there because of his issues with paying attention.

A person with ADHD is ok when chaos persists not only that routine and boredom are kryptonite to a person with ADD. Because of these factors, I believe the tech industry is a suitable and stimulating career fit for any person diagnosed with ADHD. I believe this because a person with ADHD has the ability to hyper-focus on something interesting and coding is very interesting. Learning to create in a new way is very exciting to a person with ADHD. People with ADHD are commonly, and highly creative.https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-creativity-of-adhd/

Some helpful tools for when you have brain fog include meditation and focusing your energy. Our brains are so powerful for instants the man who passed away from hyperthermia in an unplugged freezer.https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/deadly-imaginings/. Although this of course is so sad it is also very eye-opening to the power of the mind. A really great way to start focusing your energy is with a simple mantra or, a sentence you repeat over and over to yourself every day. Mantras are known to quite the mind and through MRIs, scientists have been able to see that repeating a mantra slows down your brain activity across the board which is something people with ADHD are known to struggle with.

Another way to help with brain clarity is by eating brain food like avocados, salmon, and almonds. There are omega-3s in this food that our body does not produce but our brain needs to function. Also, exercise is essential in overall health.https://healthybrains.org/pillar-physical/

Vitamins go hand in hand with brain food. Fish oil, Vitamin D, and Ashwagandha are a couple of great vitamins that help me focus better. Many people are medicated with Adderall or other stimulants which have an opposite effect on a person with ADHD as opposed to someone without ADHD. Stimulants make the average person hyper, but people with ADHD calm them down. Adderall can be addictive and should be used as a final resort as it could affect your weight, overall mood, and quality of life. Anti-Depressants are an alternative to Adderall because this type of medicine regulates the chemicals in your brain. A lack of dopamine has been shown in people with ADHD. Also, Anti-Depressants are non-addictive or a controlled substance like Adderall.

If you struggle with ADHD, it is something you can overcome. Know that what makes us different is what makes us special. Embrace “flaws” because there is power inside of all of us that we do not always see. I encourage you to check out coding. I'm a regular person with ADHD. I've never been too good at or liked school, but I like to code.

https://www.w3schools.com/jsref/met_console_log.asp ….this is a great site to write your first line of code. If you like it, check out some coding boot camps like Flatiron which offer fast pace programs to teach you to code at a level where u can actually get a job. Check out the salary cap for motivation as well. If you're up for it, you can even teach yourself with online resources like youtubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UC29ju8bIPH5as8OGnQzwJyA.
